Canada and the Province of Ontario welcomes you...

The "Where in the World" themed Par-Tay is in full swing over at The Outlawz, and I really hope all you crafty peeps have your creative juices flowing by now!
Hopefully you have been over to the site to see all the fun stuff we have planned for you, our wonderful members.
Let me tell you a bit about where I live......I reside in the beautiful Province of Ontario, Canada.
It is such a beautiful province and we are known primarily for our rolling hills topography, maple trees/maple syrup, and thousands upon thousands of lakes just to name a few things.
We are affectionately referred to as the Land of Lakes, and to give you some perspective as to the size of Ontario well let's just say we border our American friends in 8 States, incorporate all 5 Great Lakes, and it takes approximately 28 hours or 2,095 kilometers to travel clear across it in an east/west direction.
Now what comes along with thousands of lakes is the good ole Canadian Beaver. So my card/project for the “Where in the World” Twisted Thursday challenge depicts a few of the things we Canadian’s from the Province of Ontario are synonymous for….

I found this cute little Canadian beaver image on the internet under ClipArt. It is created by Lee Hansen at PasticheFamily Portal. After reading the terms of use, I can’t sell or give away this little card if I choose to use the image. But that’s ok because I will just put it to good use in one of my own personal Canada Day scrapbook pages, which apparently is OK to do.

I printed the image out on Neenah card-stock, coloured it up with my Copic markers in the traditional red and white Canadian flag colours. I carried that colour theme into the papers as well, a few maple leaves here and there and that’s it!
Have you ever felt more welcomed??? Seriously though, you won’t see one of these little fellas waving our flag when you cross our borders, but don’t let that stop you from planning a vacation to our vast, diverse and friendly beautiful country some time soon.
Thanks for stopping by :)S

Don't have a ride? Then draw one...

Good morning crafty peeps!

This week over at the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge we are having our usual Anything Goes challenge, and this week it's a "Transportation" twist.

When I looked through my stash of stamps/digi images I found that the only transportation themed image I had was a bicycle.
After I finished my card and before I photographed it, something told me not to use it for this occasion.

So, I decided to try my hand at drawing my own image, and tah-dah, here is what I came up with.

Now please don't laugh too hard, I purposely made it look cartoonish, if that's even a word. I put it on a cartoonish road and then made the sentiment look like it's a road sign.

I colored everything with my Copic markers, and after I finished it I decided to mess it up...yes I did say I decided to mess it up! I wanted to create a washed out appearance, so I used my colorless blender to remove the ink in certain areas.

I then used some corrugated paper that I had in my scrap pile for the tires and front grill. Then added a bit of bling, some glossy accents on the headlights and there you have it...one cartoonish car driving down a cartoonish road on it's way to some little boy or girls birthday party.

I hope you enjoyed my totally out of the blue ART 101 experience. I am a doodler by nature, and hope to take a real learn to draw art class sometime in the not so distant future. Perhaps I may find myself in the wonderful world of illustrative art.

OK now, get yourselves over to the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge and show us DT gals what you have created this week.

Thanks for stopping by :)S

Sittin' & thinkin' about you...

Well hello there crafty peeps! It has been a while since I last put my fingers to the keyboard, let alone put my Copic markers to cardstock.

I recently returned from one of the most amazing adventures with my wonderful husband.
We left on May 22nd, for London, England where we spent 4 days exploring that amazing city in all it's British glory. Then we embarked on a delightful but very exhausting cruise of the British Isles.
Our itinerary included Guernsey and Liverpool, England, Cork, and Dublin, Ireland, Belfast, Northern Ireland, Glasgow, Invergordon and Edinburgh, Scotland and last but certainly not least the amazing city of love, Paris, France before returning to South Hampton to head home on June 8th.

If you are interested, my husband Rick has his own travel blog and he is in the process of posting some of his wonderful photography and commentary.
Feel free to drop by and visit him at www.travelbyrad.blogspot.com

Getting back to the task at hand, this is a little card that I made for the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge this week, Anything Goes with an Animal twist.

I bought this little stamp set from
Inky Antics Rubber Stamps a wee while ago, and this is the first time I have used it. I really bought it because of this particular little cutie as she reminds me of my little Yorkshire Terrier Lucy.
The stamp set comes with a couple of other dog breeds as well as a few sentiments.
The one I think I will use on the inside of this card is;

"Sittin' & thinkin'
about you!

If she could talk I am sure she would have told me that she was thinking that very thing while I was away. She was in very good hands though, staying with Grammy, Papa and my sister Jennie where she had 2 acres to explore everyday and chase chipmunks to her hearts content!

I stamped the image with memento black ink onto Neenah cardstock and then coloured her with my Copic markers.
I kept the front of the card to the bare minimum because the DP speaks for itself. I added Smooch Glitz to the ribbon, Viva Decor Black Pearl Pen for the eyes, and then a little bit of Glossy Accents for her nose and tongue.

So head on over to the Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge and show us your animal creation.
Thanks for stopping by :)S
